I stumbled on this photo quote on my Facebook account which reminded me of how greatness can be achieved over a specific time frame with the magical number - 10,000! Few weeks back, I was in a Photography Seminar 101 prepared by Iligan Bloggers Society when the invited photojournalist Bobby Timonera said, "I can not promise you that you will be good photographers after today.." Over the course of the session he encourages, "Maybe you just need 10 000 frames"
So I looked it up on what he meant by 10,000 frames. And I saw that it was the 10,000 Hour principle introduced by Malcolm Gladwell on his book, The Outliers. The very same one that has been sitting on the bookshelf that I have had only a few of it's-now-brown-discolored book pages read. So I gave some hours of the day on the couch to finish it. And so it goes:
You are required 10,000 hours of dedicated practice to master any nontrivial field.
Drawing. Writing. Playing an instrument. Sports. Acting. Crafting. Photography. Cooking. Public speaking. Setting up a website. Blogging. And other sorts.
